Project:  A new website for Leicester based charity, Norton House

Following an introduction from Communities in Partnership through the Reaching People initiative to The GB Group at an event they hosted, Leicester based charity Norton House engaged the services of GB Group member and Leicester based web design and marketing services specialists Mulberry Square to produce their new website.
Established in 1984, Norton House Leicester provide supported homes for men and women who have long-term mental health problems. Poorly regarded by the search engines and falling a long way short of representing the high quality care and support the charity offers, their old website had little or no design and was difficult to update.

Due to the changes in the way that funding is now distributed to service users in the form of personal budgets, Norton House understood that it was of vital importance that the charity emphasised the benefits that they provide to those seek that services that they offer.
The brief that demanded good design, simple navigation, ease of use, low ongoing support and maintenance, good SEO and all to a very tight budget.

With it’s high level of community development and ease of use, Mulberry Square provided a WordPress website. The most commonly used content management system that is easily updated and administered, it provided the ideal platform for Norton House.
By getting to know the client and understanding what was needed Mulberry Square produced a  pleasing design, clear navigation and well signposted calls to action highlighting all the good work that Norton House does in Leicester for those with long term mental health problems.
Benefitting from only  a small amount of training on how to use the system, Norton House’s people were soon up and running and coupled with good rankings for what they offer they haven’t looked back.

Results so far
Proving the ease of use and low ongoing cost of the WordPress website, over the past 7 months only 2 hours of telephone support have been needed.
All of its selected keywords have achieved good ranking positions, generating 1017 unique visits. The number of non brand keywords (organic search phrases) generating traffic on was 172 with visits from them numbering 469.

Ongoing Campaign
Norton House benefits from having no regular ongoing costs apart from the cost of the UK carbon neutral web hosting that Mulberry Square provides, billed annually at a rate that is 60% lower than that charged to the charity by its previous supplier.
That said, Mulberry Square continues to provide an on-call website support service, providing reassurance that if help is needed it is at hand.
