Lisa had worked as a senior HR specialist in various industries in both the public and private sectors for 15 years. Some of her employed experience has been gained in retail, agriculture, engineering, the police and careers support.
I have been a strong HR generalist, enjoying working operationally, but also have strong expertise in employee relations, diversity and designing HR strategies that support the business focus.
In 2002 I completed my studies in Human Resource Management at Lincoln University and achieved an MSc in the subject. I have also been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for my experience of working at a senior and strategic level and was awarded Fellow in 2010. In 2009 I achieved an accredited qualification in workplace mediation.
As for me, I enjoy creative interests such as silversmithing, spinning and knitting and gardening. I also battle away at the gym several times a week.

HR Protocol was established in 2009 and supports a growing number of employers in the East Midlands with their staff management.
Many owners of small and medium sized businesses are so bury running the company that they aren’t able to give HR the time and attention it deserves. In most cases people are an organisation’s most valuable asset. They also represent the highest risk so it is important that HR is given enough consideration. That’s why my clients particularly appreciate my calm, solution based approach to their situations and I always offer practical advice and support so they can concentrate on running the company.
HR Protocol offers its clients peace of mind by being as hands on as they require so they can turn their energies onto other pressing business matters. Lisa is passionate that every client maximises the power of their workforce as well as keeping them compliant with ever changing HR legislation.
The business sectors that HR Protocol works with are wide ranging and diverse in their nature, for example, logistics, arts and culture, estate agency, education, health care, charities, manufacture to name but a few and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know the business, understanding the culture and it’s future plans so that HR Protocol can support it in the right way.
All advice and documentation provided is specific to the client and not ‘off the shelf’ as Lisa doesn’t believe that a ‘one size fits all’ approach works.
HR Support Packages
HR Protocol offers a variety of ways in which it can support its clients from a basic employment law advice helpline through to an all-encompassing annual contract as follows:
1. Free HR audit
This takes about an hour to an hour and a half and is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss your current Human Resources practices and procedures covering everything from how you recruit to what benefits you have in place through exit strategies for staff. Following the audit you will be given a report on our findings and any recommendations for improving the way you manage your most expensive assets, your staff.
2. Employment Law and HR Advice Helpline
This gives you access to support and advice via the telephone or email on any employment issue that you are faced with.
3. Employment Law and HR Advice Helpline and Provision of Appropriate Communication
The level of service as described in 2 above plus assistance to ensure that letters that are required to go to staff are of the relevant detail. We do see a lot of letters that don’t have sufficient detail in them to satisfy a tribunal that a process is being followed correctly.
4. Review and Refresh Employment Contract or Introduce Contracts for the First Time
It is very important to review your employment contract every couple of years, mainly because employment law is constantly changing but also to ensure that the clauses within the contract fit with the evolution of your business. As you grow you might require different clauses adding and amending. We also make sure that you have the minimum required procedures in place. This service also includes assistance with introducing the revised employment contract to your staff.
5. Review and Refresh, or introduce for the First Time Employee Handbook.
It’s great practice to have an Employee Handbook for your staff to refer to whenever they are unsure of a process to follow. Our Employee Handbooks are very comprehensive and can cover anything from customer service, to Human Resources policies and practices, to health and safety, to company vehicle policies and more or less depending on your needs.
6. Retained Annual Contract
This service includes a review of all the documentation you have in place and revisions made where necessary, assistance with any consultation required, access to employment law and HR advice, all documentation produced on your behalf, employment law updates, contract and handbook review, updates to your contract and handbook as the law changes, HR newsletters, quarterly review meetings and on-site support when required.
7. Provision of HR Policies and Procedures
We can write comprehensive policies and procedures to address your particular needs. These will be bespoke for your organisation and could cover any aspect of managing people.
8. Provision of Standard Template Policies and Procedures
We have standard documents produced to cover Equal Opportunities, Discipline, Grievance, Performance Management, Capability, Flexible Working, Maternity, Adoption and Paternity procedures.
9. Ad hoc Operational HR Support
If you would prefer not to commit to an annual agreement then we are happy to provide ad hoc support either remotely or on-site to assist you with your particular employment practice needs.
10. Strategic HR Support
Price dependent on requirements
In the event that the above options do not suit your needs then please contact Lisa Poole on 01476 861884 as she will be happy to discuss with you your particular requirements.
This is a great tool for resolving disputes/conflicts between employees or employees and management. It’s a cost effective and timely solution that can avoid the traumatic experience and high costs of an employment tribunal.
Confidential and impartial, mediation is focused on the future. It is a means to help people move forward in a way that is mutually beneficial. The overall benefit of workplace mediation is that it helps to increase profits for your business because it is designed to be motivating, fair and supportive for all parties involved.
Vipa Designs has used Lisa at HR Protocol for at least 5 years now. Personally I have found her to always be very professional, with a fantastic level of knowledge and she has a meticulous attention to detail. I have always been really impressed with Lisa and would recommend HR Protocol to any prospective clients.
Peter Crump, Managing Director, Vipa Designs Limited
“I had a need to revise existing staff contracts, and was not happy with my existing consultant’s approach, so I started by looking for people I knew who handled HR matters. From an initial discussion, I felt that Lisa’s approach would offer the sort of support and guidance I was seeking, and this proved to be the case. Her advice was clear and direct, and the contracts were settled without significant problems and, more to the point, without taking up too much of my time. I will certainly refer any future issues to Lisa.”
